Steve McManaman says Birmingham City manager Alex McLeish has the confidence of owner Carsen Yeung.
The Liverpool legend acts as an adviser to Yeung.
"It hasn't been plain sailing in the Premier League this season, but I know Yeung thinks Alex McLeish is a very good manager," McManaman told the Daily Express.
"I watch Birmingham whenever I can and you see there is much more quality in the squad now.
"I was at the game with Manchester City recently and McLeish was saying he was in a dilemma over who to play and who to leave out. McLeish says who he wants and Yeung tries to make the money available. That's a sensible way of doing it.
"The squad seem to be a great bunch. It's important to know that you can look your team-mate in the eye and know he is fighting for the same cause. That was their strength last season and McLeish is now trying to build on that."
