McLeish remaining very coy regarding Villa's transfer plans

Aston Villa boss Alex McLeish is keeping his cards close to his chest regarding the clubs winter transfer dealings.

The West Midlands outfit have been credited with an interest in Rangers midfielder Steven Davis - a former Villa player - but McLeish did not want to comment on the Northern Ireland international while remaining coy on any other business that may take place in January.

"I'm not at liberty to talk about other players at other teams," said McLeish.

"We have a lot of players I admire in mind but it remains to be seen if we can do business.

"Just as in the summer, we have to trade carefully. I'm using those words again, box clever, and I don't see us plunging into the market.

"You never know. If there is anything to be done trading wise, then we have to consider things."
