Alex McLeish believes the Premier League relegation battle could be decided by goal difference.
McLeish kept Aston Villa up last season in 16th place with 38 points - but went down the year before at Birmingham with 39. So he knows more than most what the bosses in this year's relegation scrap are going through.
He told the People: "The managers will be trying to work out the target, but that can be where it all becomes fuzzy. You just don't know what you are going to need.
"Before the end of the season Wigan will pick up points, and therefore Villa will need to, and so will Stoke, and so will Sunderland and Newcastle, and so on. It could all end up coming down to goal difference."
