Aston Villa boss Alex McLeish believes their £20 million sale of Stewart Downing to Liverpool was good business.
Eck admitted the bid was too high to resist after previously insisting the winger was not for sale.
"In the end it was too good to turn down," he told the Sunday Mercury.
"We said he wasn't for sale, but I think Manchester United said the same thing about Cristiano Ronaldo.
"Everybody at some stage is entitled to change their mind. Also the price determines it."
