McKay set to remain at Brisbane Roar

Brisbane Roar captain Matt McKay is reportedly set to sign a new multi-year deal with the club.

The 27-year old midfielder has attracted some attention from clubs in Asia recently and in the past but will put pen to a three-year, seven-figure contract by the end of the week.

McKay has been in talks with the Roar and it is likely that there will be a clause included in his new deal that will allow him to go on loan to a Chinese or Korean club for a period of time after the current A-League season.

The six-time capped Australian international has had successful trials with Incheon United in 2006 and Changchun Yatai last year but deals with those clubs never eventuated.

This potential contract news is good for the Roar who look capable of becoming an A-League force if they can keep the bulk of their current squad together and with the skipper showing the way, perhaps the club can shore up the futures of some other key players.
