McInerney happy with Philadelphia Union hit-out

USA U17 international Jack McInerney was slightly happy with his first hit-out for expansion franchise Philadelphia Union on Saturday.

The 17-year old forward was on the scoresheet as the Union brushed aside University of North Carolina 5-0 in Greensboro and although he expressed delight at scoring, knows it is part of his job and is just keen to continue improving.

"I thought we played really well, but I didn't play to the best of my abilities," said McInerney.

"Luckily, I scored a goal, so no one will remember that I didn't have the best game. I got the ball, caught the goalkeeper out [of position] and I scored. That's what I do, I score goals. That is my job as a striker."

McInerney was the 7th overall pick at the 2010 MLS SuperDraft last month and is the youngest member of the Union squad.
