Manchester United U18 coach Paul McGuinness was pleased with their FA Youth Cup win over Hull City.
United overcame the Tigers on Tuesday with three second-half goals but the victory was founded on another clean sheet - a sixth in succession for the resolute Reds.
"Our defence is strong and quick and they complement each other well," McGuinness told manutd.com. "We've also got Tim [Fosu-Mensah] in front of them and he covers the ground well and is a good defensive shield as well.
"It was similar to the Bury game really. We were waiting for the breakthrough and hoping to get more goals. The longer you don't score, you start getting a bit nervous.
"I think we're getting better all the time. We've improved as we've gone along and I always thought we would after Christmas, as the young players got more experience and gained confidence from winning the indoor tournament in Germany last week. I think we're improving all the time.
"Playing at Old Trafford gives them great experience and confidence and the next time they're here, whether with the Under-21s or the first team, they already have a feel for the ground and know they've played well here."
