McGhee prefers Aberdeen job to Scotland coach

Aberdeen boss Mark McGhee has confirmed he will not be applying to replace George Burley as Scotland boss. McGhee says he did not apply for the job last time, although his name was put forward, and has no interest in sending off his CV this time around.

"I didn't apply for the Scotland job last time," said McGhee. "I was invited for an interview after being put forward by Alex McLeish and Gordon Strachan.

"All my best mates were pushing me up there, although I don't know if they are mates or not after what happened to George.

"But I certainly won't be applying or doing anything in any other shape or form about the Scotland job.

"That was my punt at it then and it will be a while before I think about that again. I have a great job ahead of me here at Aberdeen and there is nothing else on my mind apart from that."
