McGhee knows pressure is building as Aberdeen continue to slump

Aberdeen boss Mark McGhee admits his job is on the line after the defeat against Kilmarnock extended a miserable run to six straight losses. McGhee was granted a stay of execution by chairman Stewart Milnes after a 9-0 humiliation by Celtic earlier this month but his Dons side have since suffered four further losses, leaving them off the bottom only on goal difference.

"I was never actually given a set period of time to see if things would improve," McGhee said. "I was just told to roll up my sleeves and get on with it.

"But in the period since the crisis talks, nothing has changed. We are still losing games and still at the bottom end of the league which is a worry.

"But unless something changes, I will continue doing the job and do what I can to improve the club's situation.

"Everything has come to a point where alarm bells have got to ring. They are certainly ringing strongly in my head and they have been for a while. But they really started going after watching how poor we were at Kilmarnock.

"This is the most critical point of the season. We are in a scrap and must dig ourselves out of a hole."
