Mark McGhee is confident his job is safe at Aberdeen.
The Dons boss admits a top six finish is beyond them, but insists he doesn't fear for his Pittodrie future.
McGhee said: "The criticism I have received in the last month has steeled me to do all I can to turn it around.
"What has disappointed me is some people have doubted I can do that. I've proven to be a success in management wherever I have been. The fact I've not been a success at the end of my first season here does not mean the end of that. I was given guarantees about the job when I came to the club although you can never say never.
"However, it will not keep me awake at night. We're doing slightly worse than I'd hoped. I'm sure the club would have hoped we would have finished in the top six.
"I was given a brief of introducing young players and developing the squad and that is under way.
"I hope the players have not resigned themselves to the season ending."
