McGeady admits old friends convinced him about Everton move

Aiden McGeady admits Everton's strong Irish and Scottish contingent did have an influence on his move from Spartak Moscow.

The 27-year-old is now away with the Club at a warm weather training camp in Tenerife where he is getting acquainted with the remainder of his new colleagues.

But speaking to evertontv ahead of the trip, the former Spartak Moscow star said: "I spoke to quite a lot of the boys and I met everyone [on Saturday] and it seems like a good bunch of lads.

"Obviously I know Darron and Seamus and James, and I know Steven Naismith from playing against him a few years ago. At the moment it's a little bit like the first day at school again, but hopefully over time I'll get integrated in.

"Everybody I've spoken to has just said it's a great club with great tradition, great fans, and, obviously, a big pull is the manager as well.

"The team are doing well, so hopefully I can come in and add to it in some way."
