James McFadden was thrilled with his goal scoring performance in last night's 3-2 victory over Metalist Kharkiv.

The Scot rated the win as his best night in club football and told evertonfc.com: said: "It is up there (with the best nights). It's been a long time since we have been into the proper stages of Europe and it's an important goal. They had a go at us and it (the early goal) gave them a lift.

"Sometimes you can regroup at half time and show more spirit. That's what we did and the spirit was phenomenal.

"You need luck in football but in the end we have won 3-2. We will have to play better but it's a nice habit to have - to not play well and win games."
