McFadden hopes he is onside with Birmingham fans

James McFadden says he hopes he is winning over Blues fans at last, reports the Birmingham Mail.

The Scotland star has had a rollercoaster ride since his £4.75 million arrival from Everton almost two years ago.

He was inspirational early on before suffering a knee problem, had a poor season in the Championship when hampered by injury and illness and has recently shown signs of coming into his own.

“Halfway through last season I don’t think too many people would have been bothered if I was there or not,” McFadden said wryly.

“I didn’t have a particularly good season last season but, touch wood, I’ve managed to get clear of injuries and have had a good run in the team.

“I’m enjoying it and I think the fans are seeing the best of me.”
McFadden didn’t have options to quit in the summer.

“It was a case of the manager saying I wasn’t going anywhere and that was fine by me,” he said.
