McFadden accepts making away for Everton signing Yakubu

James McFadden accepts he could be on the bench next week, despite scoring for Everton in Saturday's 1-1 draw with Blackburn Rovers.

With Yakubu Aiyegbeni arriving from Middlesbrough, McFadden says: "It's part of football.

"I'm at a big club and to move forward you've got to bring in good players and I think we're going that way. We're bringing in a striker who guarantees you 15 goals a season and we need someone like that. It puts a marker down for the rest of the boys - they know they have got to work harder to get in the team.

"It's been a while since I started a game for the club so it was nice to get a run-out today. I like to think I've taken my chance, but I'll have to wait until next week to see what happens."
