McDonald on target but Middlesbrough held

Scott McDonald has scored for the second Championship game in a row but was unable to guide Middlesbrough to victory against Leicester City on Wednesday night.

The Australian striker leveled for Boro in the 17th minute of the 2-2 draw, after David Nugent's opener for the Foxes, when he slotted home from close range after Tony McMahon's corner was flicked on by Seb Hines.

Middlesbrough took the lead at King Power Stadium when McDonald's Socceroos teammate Rhys Williams won a free-kick outside the area which was expertly taken by McMahon but an away win for Tony Mowbray's men was thwarted when Jermaine Beckford grabbed a later leveler for Leicester.

The goal was McDonald's ninth of the season - and fifth since mid-December - but was not enough to push them above fourth-placed Birmingham City.
