Celtic have kicked off their season of redemption with a bang, demolishing St Johnstone 5-2. Australian international Scott McDonald was on the scoresheet for the second game in a row, after netting in the opening day win over Aberdeen.
58,500 fans saw Celtic dominated proceedings against the newly-promoted Saints as off-season signing Marc-Anotine Fortune scored twice (21st and 54th minutes) as did winger Shaun Maloney (28th and 53rd).
St Johnstone's Collin Samuel managed to hit back for his club in the 36th minute to make the score 2-1 but the visiting Saints could not make headway as the Hoops turned it on in the second half.
McDonald completed the rout in the 74th minute when he headed in Danny Fox's cross before Jody Morris scored a consolation goal for St Johnstone two minutes later.
