Australian striker Scott McDonald says the team is ready to play an attacking brand of football, starting with tonight's friendly against Republic of Ireland. The Socceroos were criticised for playing such a defensive-minded style in their World Cup qualifying campaign but with their tickets to South Africa secure, McDonald believes it is time to play more attractive football.
"I know some people weren't happy with the type of football we played but we were very successful," McDonald said.
"The manager knows and everyone else knows it's a different type of game when you go to a World Cup.
"We have to win all three games.
"There's no away games now ... we look to go out and win every game.
"So possibly I think we'll see a few other different formations being played and a few changes to see what it's like for us because we might need to use these come the World Cup."
