McDonald every chance of returning for Middlesbrough's clash with Brighton

Scott McDonald could be back in action for Middlesbrough this weekend, giving the promotion-chasing club a major boost.

The Australian striker, who has scored nine Championship goals this season, has been sidelined since early February with a knee injury but may return when fifth-placed Boro meet fourth-placed Brighton & Hove Albion at the Amex Stadium on Saturday.

"He's trained and looked very, very sharp and yet he's been out for a few months now," said boss Tony Mowbray.

"We will take him to Brighton and will assess down there.

"I'll have a good chat with him on the way down there and assess whether he can play a part, but he's not far away."
