McDonald admits Middlesbrough move has not been a success
Middlesbrough striker Scott McDonald says his move to the English Championship club has not gone as he would have liked.
The 27-year old Australian has not enjoyed the prolific goalscoring form he had with Scottish giants Celtic prior to his shift to the Riverside Stadium last February and admits it has been somewhat frustrating.
“At the start of the season I wanted to be top scorer in the league,” McDonald told the Evening Gazette.
“It’s the same every season. To be honest I expected to score a lot more goals this season than I have done.
“I got used to scoring goals for Celtic and you expect it to continue wherever you go. That’s my job in the team. That’s what I do.
“So hopefully I will score a few more before the end of the season. I feel confident that I can.”
McDonald has netted on just nine occasions in 30 appearances for ‘Boro who currently sit 18th on the table following their 3-3 draw with Leicester City on Saturday.
