McDermott takes over Newcastle reserve-team

Terry McDermott has taken over as Newcastle United reserve-team boss.

McDermott is filling the breach left by Lee Clark, who has joined Glenn Roeder as assistant manager at Norwich City.

McDermott will be joined in the dugout by senior Academy and goalkeeper coach Adam Sadler.

And former European Cup winner McDermott expressed his sadness at Clark's departure.

He told the Evening Chronicle: "We're all disappointed to see Clarkie go because he was a popular figure here.

"But we understand why he's gone because it's a big job for him at Norwich."
