Reading boss Brian McDermott is confident his players will be ready for the Premier League kickoff.

Reading host Crystal Palace at Madejski Stadium next Saturday (3pm) in the final build-up match to their Premier League opener against Stoke City on August 18.

And McDermott said: " I'm glad it's two weeks [away], it gives us time to prepare, keep working. We need that and come the first game at Madejski we'll be ready."
