McDermott positive as Reading hold Swansea

Brian McDermott was delighted to see his Reading side hold out for a much-needed point on Boxing Day.

The Royals were able to thwart the attacking advances of Swansea City at the Madejski Stadium in a 0-0 draw which allowed them to climb off the bottom of the table even though they could have snatched a win when Adam Le Fondre was ruled to have handballed at the death when putting the ball in the back of the net.

"We need to find a way to get results and today we got a result," McDermott said.

"We are disappointed they didn't give us the handball goal because they normally give them here. Adam would have headed it but he said he got pulled back.

"We were much more resilient, it is important to move on with a point and we can look forward with confidence to West Ham.

"We have got a point and a clean sheet and we are off the bottom of the table."
