McCourt keen to remain at Celtic despite no starts

Paddy McCourt says he has no intentions of leaving Celtic despite not being given a start so far this season.

The 27-year old winger admits he still feels wanted at Parkhead even though manager Neil Lennon continually has him on the bench and will work hard to get game time at his dream club.

"Neil has definitely told me I am part of his plans. On the whole, last year went really well and I'm looking to kick on from there and do even better," he said.

"We're only at the start of September, there is a lot of football to be played.

"Signing for Celtic from Derry City (in 2008) was my dream but, at the end of the day, I want to play a lot more football than I have done.

"A couple of times that's been at the back of my mind, but I spoke to the manager and I'm very much in his plans. Any player would rather play regularly than just be on the fringes and I'm no different. I have enjoyed my three years here, but as much as I love the club, I want to get out there and play.

"If I was to leave it would be with a heavy heart but it's not going to happen, so I'm focused on playing for Celtic."
