Rangers veteran David Weir will be slowed to leave the club this January if he desires.

The 41-year old has failed to make an impact this season mainly because of injuries and 'Gers boss Ally McCoist has confirmed that the former Everton man would have the bright to depart Ibrox during the winter transfer market to find regular first team football.

"I haven't spoken to Davie about January but would not have a problem if he wants to go," McCoist told the Sunday Mail.

"He hasn't indicated that yet but if he did I think he has earned the right."
