McCoist on the way out at crisis-stricken Rangers

Rangers manager Ally McCoist is set to quit his job at Ibrox after finding out impending owner Charles Greens' plans.

It has been revealed that the 'Gers boss will walk away after he discovered that he has no place in Green's plans for the club who have now fallen into liquidation.

The reports suggests that McCoist is dismayed by what he has found out with Green saying publicly that he was set to keep Walter Smith's former assistant on board but changing his tune behind closed doors.

A former director close to the situation told Record Sport: "Honesty, dignity and courage have always been the driving forces in McCoist's make-up but he doesn't think those qualities have been in abundance outwith the players, staff and fans.

"Even so he was convinced it was his duty to do everything he could to help Rangers survive but to be told his dismissal had already been spoken about by Green has left him disgusted."
