McCoist to manage for nothing in bid to help save Rangers

Rangers boss Ally McCoist says has pledged to drop his salary in order to help the club out of their financial crisis.

The reigning Scottish champions are undergoing enormous cost-cutting efforts to get things at Ibrox back up and running and it is believed that McCoist is keen to throw his weight behind achieving survival.

Reports suggest McCoist is prepared to part with his £1million-a-year wages as players and staff were yesterday given three choices from administrators Duff & Phelps.

The first is to axe eight players plus a 50 per cent cut in wages across the board, the second is to have eleven players cut plus a 50 per cent deferral until the end of the season, with the third begin no players axed but a 75 per cent wage cut across the board.

It is also apparent that one unnamed senior player has offered to play for nothing for the remainder of the season.
