Kyle Bartley is being linked with a return to Arsenal but Rangers boss Ally McCoist insists the defender is firmly in his plans for the remainder of the campaign.

The 20-year old is on a season-long loan at Ibrox but there have been reports that Arsene Wenger is set to recall him to North London to provide cover in defence.

However, McCoist says he is yet to hear from the Gunners and made it clear that even if they did enquire about having Bartley back, he wouldn't be open to the return.

"I have been told nothing about Arsenal wanting the big man back and I obviously wouldn't welcome it if they did," he told the Daily Record.

"I realise they have some defensive problems but as far as I'm aware he's signed on loan for the season and that's where he'll be staying. I really wouldn't want to lose him, that's for sure."
