The Queensland Roar has defeated the Wellington Phoenix 1-0 in Round 9 of A-League action. Josh McCloughan's 40th minute header was the difference in a highly entertaining contest at Wellington's Westpac Stadium. It wasn't all good for the Roar though as key players Danny Tiatto and Sergio van Dijk exited the field early due to injury. The win sees the Roar jump to fifth on the table ahead of next week's clash with the team they replaced in that position, Newcastle Jets, whilst the Phoenix remain in seventh and will be looking to lengthen the gap between them and bottom team Perth Glory away next week.
