Brisbane Roar defender Josh McCloughan has defended teammate Danny Tiatto after he received a one-match ban for an offensive gesture.
Tiatto gave Melbourne Victory fans the 'finger' on Saturday night after seeing himself on the big screen and has been sanctioned by the FFA.
McCloughan said it was important to back Tiatto during this time as he is a highly effective player when in the right frame of mind.
"I don't think he'll be getting too much leeway from the review panel or from refs," McCloughan said.
"The thing with Danny is he plays hard and does everything he can to win.
"He does get physical but that's what makes him so effective, because he intimidates players.
"People love to crucify him. They are the same people who pat him on the back a week later and say what a great player he is."
