Newcastle United defender Jamaal Lascelles has revealed that manager Steve McClaren has brought with him enormous expectations to the club.
The arrival of McClaren as manager of the Magpies has brought about a new wave of optimism at the club but the Englishman does have a tough job on his hands to restore the glory days to St. James' Park.
Newcastle new boy Lascelles has been working with McClaren for almost two weeks now and the defender has stated that the 54-year old is very demanding of his players as he is determined to introduce an attractive brand of football at the club once again.
Lascelles told the Chronicle: "The minute we walked in, Steve McClaren got us in and we had a meeting. He told us how he wanted to play.
"He wants to get the ball popping around and hopefully we can carry that on into the season because that's what he wants. He has high expectations and high demands. With the players we've got, there is no reason why we can't do what he asks."
