England boss Steve McClaren says Blackburn Rovers midfielder David Bentley will have a chance to return to international football after next their friendly against Germany.

McClaren said: "I made it clear I was disappointed with his decision not to travel to the tournament with his team-mates.

"That is why he was left out of the squad for the Germany game. As far as I am concerned, that is the end of it."

Rovers boss Mark Hughes said: "This is the last friendly before they go into the qualifiers.

"I thought if he wasn't involved in this squad then it could be into the new year or next season before he gets an opportunity - irrespective of how he plays."
