McCarthy says Jedinak 'one of best in Crystal Palace history'

Former Crystal Palace captain Paddy McCarthy has paid tribute to Mile Jedinak.

The Aussie left Palace this week for Aston Villa.

"It was a sad day for Palace on Wednesday. Mile's played such a big part in creating an identity and culture at the club which has brought so much success over recent years," McCarthy told the Croydon Advertiser.

"He can take a lot of pride in the role he played and in what has been the club's most successful time in history.

"Mile captained the side to four successive years in the Premier League and played in the FA Cup final, plus the play-off win. He doesn't say a lot off the pitch but the influence he had in the changing room and on the pitch was very clear to see.

"He is a fantastic professional and one of the best I've ever worked with, so dedicated to the game.

"Mile will go down in history as one of the club's best ever players, I would say, in my book."
