Benni McCarthy has been ordered to pay £80,000 of fines to West Ham United.

The South African failed to meet a weight-loss deadline and had to cough up the cash to the Hammers but has since dropped the weight the club's fitness advisers wanted and is in line for a first team recall.

"Benni regrets what has happened, but is keen to put it behind him now," a source told the Daily Mail.

"He has paid the fines and now wants to repay the club by playing well and scoring goals."
