McCarthy to leave Blackburn to safeguard World Cup place

Reports suggest that Benni McCarthy may quit Blackburn Rovers and rejoin Celta Vigo in Spain in order to revive his hopes of playing in the World Cup for South Africa. Rovers boss Sam Allardyce has hinted at problems with his strikeforce, saying, "Irrespective of how good or how well we play up to the final third, if we haven't got anybody to put the ball in the net we will struggle.

"I think that as soon as we add to that the better we will be."
