McCarthy hits back at accusations of too tough Wolves training

Wolves boss Mick McCarthy has denied life at Molineux is too tough, insisting the physical aspect of training is just right. The Wolves boss was quick to defend his training techniques following comments from Austrian striker Stefan Maierhofer while away on international duty this week.

"I'm not bothered about the reports to be honest," he told the

"It's possibly been lost in translation a little bit - they all go away on World Cup duty and people ask them stuff."

The manager insists the work is tough but that is how he likes it.

"We do tackle and we do wear pads every day," he said "Let me tell you, Stefan hasn't got a problem because he doesn't mind a tackle himself.

"It's the way we train. It's not the same as at other clubs, but that's just the way we are."

The Irishman continued: "It's not the norm at all clubs and Stefan has come in and seen a difference, but he's embraced it.

"He hasn't got a problem at all.

"He trains like the rest of them and I'm pleased with him."
