Everton midfielder James McCarthy is happy with his decision to move to Goodison Park.
The former Wigan Athletic star could easily have signed for today's opponents Tottenham.
"There was a lot of talk in the summer but I am really happy to be here.
"It was here or Tottenham but I am enjoying life here. It was the attraction of this club and the gaffer, he was a big factor.
"He rang my agent and said he wanted to get the deal done and I was delighted to get here - it is a brilliant club to be at.
"We won't get carried away. We're not saying we are going to reach the Champions League.
"We want to do as well as we can and it is a decent start - so far so good."
