Blackburn Rovers are locked in new contract talks with star striker Benni McCarthy.

The Daily Mail says Rovers are still facing a battle to persuade McCarthy to stay.

McCarthy wants to join a Champions League club, but Rovers are prepared to give the South Africa striker a pay rise if he agrees to remove a clause in his contract saying he can leave for £5million next summer.
