McAuley confident West Brom will hit back after Swansea failure

West Bromwich Albion defender Gareth McAuley is supremely confident that he and his teammates will return to the winners list sooner than later.

The Baggies had won four matches on the trot to move to third on the Premier League table prior to their 3-1 defeat at Swansea City on Wednesday night which dampened their recent run of form.

Ahead of Saturday's home clash with Stoke City, McAuley feels that Steve Clarke's side are capable of bouncing back quickly to consolidate their spot in the top five.

"Wednesday was a slap in the face but we will take it on the chin and move on because we've got another big game against Stoke and it's a chance to put things right and we want to do that," he said.

"Stoke will be tough but we have backed ourselves into a corner and we've got to come out fighting.

"We will expect a big response from the team that is selected to play tomorrow. Our home form is excellent and we've got to keep that going. It is important to keep picking up results."
