Gary McAllister has accepted his axing at Aston Villa.
McAllister was shown the door by new Villa manager Alex McLeish yesterday.
"This is part of the job, so I fully understand the situation," said the former Coventry City, Leeds and Liverpool midfielder.
"Alex wants people he knows and trusts. That is part of the gig, so we move on."
McLeish added: "I'm barely in the door here, so I'll need time to assess all sorts of things. One certainty is that Gordon Cowans, a real Aston Villa legend, will remain as a first-team coach."
