Mazzarri encouraged by Napoli performance for Fiorentina stalemate

Napoli boss Walter Mazzarri was pleased with their performance in the 0-0 draw with Fiorentina.

Mazzarri believes the only thing Napoli lacked was a goal against Fiorentina, but is furious at the San Paolo turf.

"What were we missing tonight? A goal. We put the ball in the box numerous times, but must also compliment Fiorentina, who showed they are a strong side," said the Coach after their 0-0 draw.

"We had a great game and took the initiative while Fiorentina were prudent, but that is football. It was a balanced first half and a Napoli monologue after the break. That penalty appeal could've been the incident to unblock the game."

The Partenopei had been top of the table after two rounds and insists the praise around his side is as exaggerated as the criticism.

"I never kid myself. Maybe some people think the season is over after two consecutive victories, but I know that's not the case.

"Also bear in mind that the long journeys are tiring on the squad with the Champions League. Don't forget what we achieved against Manchester City and Milan."
