Atletico Madrid captain Maxi Rodriguez hailed his team's performance in yesterday's 4-0 thumping of Real Zaragoza.

Maxi, who struck twice in the win, declared: "It was a special day and everything went well. We played a good game. At the beginning of the season there were fans who were disappointed, but we're a good team.

"We can only prove that, however, by playing well. This is the Atletico we all want. It is difficult to win 4-0. We must continue on this road.

"Zaragoza is a strong team, which will be fighting at the top come the end of the season. Today we proved that we can overcome these type of important games. We are happy with the victory."
