Mauricio Pellegrino fights to keep hold of Southampton job; fans consider boycott

Southampton boss Mauricio Pellegrino is fighting to keep hold of his job.

The Daily Star says supporters have flooded social media to call for the Saints board to fire Pellegrino after a worrying run of three wins from his first 12 Premier League games.

Some fans are even threatening to boycott Sunday's home game with Everton in protest over Pellegrino and the way vice-chairman of football Les Reed is running the club.

Pellegrino replaced Claude Puel in June but the Argentine's cause has not been helped by defender Cedric Soares admitting his players “gave up" during Saturday's 3-0 defeat at Liverpool.

Cedric said: “We did not start badly, but after the first and second goal we gave up a little bit and our reaction was not the best."
