Matt James was delighted to return for Manchester United reserves in their win over Blackburn Rovers.
The midfielder was hurt during a loan spell at Preston and suffered a frustrating time on the sidelines just when his career was starting to take off.
"It feels fantastic," he told manutd.com. "I was pushing for a little bit more as I've been training for a while now pain free. I'm trying to get as much football as I can, which will be a start for me.
"It's great for me to get 25 minutes or whatever and I hope I can build on this, show what I can do in training and, hopefully, Warren [Joyce] will put me in the starting line-up on Thursday [22 March against Aston Villa]."
