German legend Lothar Matthaus believes Bayern Munich must keep Christian Pulisic in Germany.

The Borussia Dortmund midfielder has been linked with Liverpool and Real Madrid this season, such is his growing reputation.

However, Matthaus believes former club Bayern should sign the USA international as a replacement for Franck Ribery.

"If Bayern eventually must find a substitute for (Arjen) Robben and Ribery, they must extend their feelers to Pulisic," said the World Cup winner.

In defeat to Bayern, Pulisic was BVB's outstanding player, with coach Peter Bosz stating: "He was our best man, played very well and fought to the end."

Pulis is tied to BVB until 2020.
