Dominic Matteo is hopeful of winning a contract with Stoke City.

Matteo, 34, was axed after the Potters secured promotion to the Premier League last season.

But Stoke boss Tony Pulis has allowed the former Scotland and Liverpool player to return for pre-season training.

Matteo said: "If something comes of it here then brilliant. Who would turn down that chance if it came around? But first and foremost I have come here to work hard."
