Chelsea legend Pat Nevin claims that the arrival of N'Golo Kante has led to the resurgence of midfielder Nemanja Matic's career with the Blues.
Nevin thinks that Conte's decision to play Matic further up the pitch in his new system is bringing out the best in the Serbian midfielder who was being linked with a Stamford Bridge exit after Kante arrived from Leicester City.
He writes in his blog for Chelsea's official website: "Clearly the early days of the Conte reign have been about finding out the capabilities of the players and their versatility.
"For example, when Nemanja Matic moved a little further forward after Kante arrived he seemed reborn, witness where he received the ball in the opposite half in the lead up to the opening goal by Traore against AC Milan and just as significantly, how smartly Nemanja used the ball."
