Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata feels Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata could yet end up at Old Trafford.
United have splashed out £75 million on Romelu Lukaku, fending off interest from Chelsea to win the race for his signature.
That decision - coupled with their reluctance to sell David De Gea to Real - means a deal for Morata looks dead in the water.
"It looks tough to see Alvaro Morata in a Red Devils shirt with the arrival of Romelu," Mata told Cadena Cope.
"We've signed an important player in attack and it's difficult, although you never know.
"Things can happen in the last few days, but I wish Alvaro the best."
