Manchester United new boy Juan Mata admits he cannot wait to play alongside Wayne Rooney.
The Spanish midfielder completed a £37.1million move to Old Trafford from Chelsea on the weekend and quickly said at his press conference unveiling that he was eager to work closely with the England international.
"I cannot wait to play alongside him. For me he is one of the best players in the history of this country," Mata said of Rooney.
"He is unbelievable. He is a striker who can score, assist, who can come to the midfielder to take the ball and try to move, so I think I will enjoy a lot (playing) alongside him.
"For me he is an unbelievable player and I will try to connect with him as much as I can.
"I will try to find the gaps between the rival defences because that is what I used to do.
"I did this last season and I think that is my best kind of playing (position). I will try to be in the position I have to be to try and assist the strikers."
