COMMENT: I am starting to get very concerned that history may be repeating itself...
When Jose Mourinho first started out at Chelsea (the first time round), he was sacked in 2007 after a 1-1 home draw versus Rosenborg.
This was not down as much to the match results, which admittedly weren't fantastic but were far from atrocious. But more to the fact of a falling out between Mourinho and Roman Abramovich. Fast forward to September 2015, and the Champions League group stages are close to starting once again. With Chelsea in worse form than the start of that season in 2007-08, and the opening group stage game of the Champions League coming up, I really feel the next few games will be pivotal not just in Chelsea's season, but in the future of Mourinho.
Now I know, this sounds ridiculous, but there has been a number of pieces of evidence to suggest all is not well at Chelsea... First of all the transfers. What on Earth is going on. Secondly, the medical team and their disgraceful sacking. I have talked previously about this. Thirdly, not just the results, but the way Chelsea are playing. The team look totally broken.
It was so blatantly obvious that this Chelsea team needed additions. But no. We sign two youngsters on the cheap, one who has been loaned straight back out. I said this before, imagine if Chelsea still had Juan Mata or Kevin de Bruyne? Oh my goodness.
Instead a right winger/midfielder (Willian) has to cover there in Oscar's absence. Sorry, and I know many many people will disagree with this, but I do not understand Mourinho at all. Yes, for me he is the greatest manager in the world, but he has made some very weird decisions regarding transfers since his second arrival.
He refused to cough up for Luke Shaw saying the price of the transfer would 'kill the club'. However, he then decides to bid £35 million-plus on John Stones. He also sold Ryan Bertrand, who is absolute class and was arguably the best left back in The Premier League last season.
Branislav Ivanovic, to be brutally honest, has been beyond woeful this season. Cesar Azpilicueta should be at right back, which was his natural position before he joined Chelsea, with Bertrand at left back! It is absolutely unbelievable. I can't get my head around it.
As for Mata and De Bruyne, with De Bruyne I can understand because of the situation between him and Thibaut Courtois and apparently his attitude was pretty lousy, but with Mata I really am not sure if Mourinho thought this one through.
Oscar is too inconsistent. I don't want to say that but it's true. As for Willian, like I said before he's out of position. I don't understand Mourinho. I'm not even going to go through the hassle of saying he's wrong, but I don't understand him. Sorry. Actually, thinking about it I'm not sorry at all. I pay my money. I say my opinion. Done.
But another thing. I go to see my team because I love my team and if we lose every game I will still support them. What I can't take is players not trying. That's an entirely different issue. Then we have a problem.
