Javier Mascherano has urged Liverpool teammates to forget about reputations and go for Manchester United's throat in the title run-in. The Argentina captain said: "In the last few years Liverpool have been a better side in the closing stages of the season than in the opening stages.
"If we can do that again this year then we have a chance of making this an exceptional season.
"But just because in the past we have done well, it doesn't mean anything in the present.
"Your reputation is important but that doesn't win you games."
He added: "You only win games by being the best team on the pitch and try your best all the time."
